LAARA INITIATIVE:

Afghan Students In Defiance

The Path

The international community has become increasingly aware of the diminishing opportunities available to Afghan students in their home country over the last few years, especially since the Taliban took over the country and the opportunities became fewer than ever. Afghanistan is at a crossroads, and international assistance is desperately needed to keep its education system from collapsing. Education advancements have come to symbolize Afghanistan's reconstruction achievements over the last 20 years, with over 9 million children enrolled in school; but, Afghanistan lost all of those achievements in one night. The good news is that students are still enthusiastic about studying. They are eager to seek opportunities outside of the country to further their education

We Help Afghan Students Pursue Dreams Of Higher Education

Hope Through Education

Hope for those seeking to learn in Afghanistan is quickly fading because of the realities on the ground there. Overall, Afghanistan today is devastated because of illiteracy, and according to sources in the country, the entire higher education and vocational training sector in Afghanistan is in great jeopardy. The sudden ban of secondary school education for girls by the Taliban authority was only the first step. The possibility of mass closures, limitations based on gender, religion, political connections, and on Taliban censorship and repression is real. The situation is complicated, but there are still a variety of options open to students if help is available. The need for aid to deserving students who want to escape this repressive environment is therefore urgent.
